Reload Kit Earth is a website dedicated to the idea of creating an emergency capsule for recreating civilization from scratch in case of a major catastrophe. The final product is a 'Reload Kit' which will contain the information, tools and essential resources necessary to reestablish our current technological standard.

Reload Kit Earth is a collaborative wiki project which any registered user can edit and contribute to. To get started just head to one of the kit component pages and start writing, or discuss their contents on their respective talk pages:

• Assumptions and Scenarios - This section refines and extends the problem description.
• The Guide - This section is the "manual to civilization" that will be included in the kit.
• The Knowledge - This section details the knowledge repositories to be included in the kit.
• The Tools And Resources - This section details the equipment and resources in the kit.

Reload Kit was created in 2007 by Alexander Ljungberg as a fun thing to do.

Alexander writes,

"While it is unlikely we'd ever need a Reload Kit, the process of building and designing it is not only an enjoyable thought experiment, but it is also a way to get a new perspective on our civilization's cultural and technological achievements. The process of documenting how to get from rocks and stones to computers, nuclear power plants and neurosurgery is in itself a valuable experience.

"This documentation may become like a new kind of encyclopedia, one starting with fewer assumptions and which takes a more guide like approach to describing technology. Want to know how to make a hammer? Wikipedia may not be able to tell you but perhaps Reload Kit Earth has something for you."
